In the family constellation work that underlies the Family Repatternings familes have an energy and a conscious that is constantly seeking coherence or higher ground. Each generation adds to the family history and leaves a footprint of energy for the next, creating a kind of a family karma.
What was the biggest problem facing the world when your great grandparents were growing up? This will be different for each of us depending on your age today.
Where did your great grandparents live? How were they living? What were the political, economic or social issues of the day? How was your family affected in a way that impacts you today? Of course you may not know the correct answers especially if no family from that time are left to tell, but chances are if you leave it to your imagination and just make up a story, a frequency of a pattern will emerge for healing.
For example, a war in previous centuries caused men in many European villages to be routinely recruited and picked up to go to war. They jumped on a wagon sent by the government thinking it would just be for a few months and for all the right reasons. For many the wagon never returned. Imagine what that would do to a family or the devastation it could cause. If the loss of this loved one was unresolved a pattern might show up in the family system in many ways:
- a partner who loves you always leaves without giving you closure.
- perhaps, you are the one who does the leaving finding it difficult to stay and confusing to leave.
- maybe valuable possesions are constantly disappearing
- it’s hard trust a partner because unconsciously you feel they may disappear
What was the biggest problem in your great grandparents time? What pattern did it leave within you? Reflect on these questions for new insight and awareness and to help you change the family frequency.
If you are participating in the Healing the Family Tree exercise, place an image that can represent the pattern from past generations or just write out the pattern on your collage. (I.E- men disappear) Add the intention you would like instead and 2 or 3 positive qualities. Use leaves or other images of growth to give energy to the positive qualities.
Participating in Ancestral Echoes? Be sure to park any new issues or intentions you may have for repatterning in the upcoming session input pages.
This can be a rather mystical exercise. Take the time to reflect when you have a quiet moment.
