Creativity Spilling Out of the Quilt Cupboard

It has been a long cold winter here in Toronto – ideal for taking the time to mess with fabrics and making cozy quilts.  I dream alot about projects, constantly collect inventory, and and frequently find myself with more creative projects in the wings than can be accomplished in a reasonable time if not a lifetime.

One of my creative challenges is to bring things to a close, to know when something is finished.  You might argue, a quilt that is quilted and draped on a bed or sofa, is done.    However, for me, the scraps left over, always beg the question – “What else can we do with this?”   The answer results in some expect things like table runners and tea cozies, crazy coasters for cups, and lately I have started thinking about boxes, altered books, wearable art or change purses.  At Pinterest, see my “Ideas Board” or “Quilt Ideas”  for a glimpse of where my mind is rambling.   A committment to any of these projects, because i have something left over from something else to incorporate, inevitably leads to the purchase of something else to finish the job!  And then of course something else is left over.   It is a personal repatterning challenge for sure!   Here are some pictures of the latest thing falling out of my cupboard!
